got my heart pumping by running slow at an incline instead of upping the speed. just wanted to do something different. i have to admit, i was a bit sore the next day.

did a 7 mile jaunt in the rain, in the dark and up and down hills. the pace wasn’t the greatest, and there were some points we stopped and walked because of cars and because iĀ was just beat, but i did make it the whole way up a monstrous hill that i have had my heart set on conquering. next goal: to run the whole loop without stopping.

i probably didn’t get the workout that was intended, but what counts is that i got one in. my husband needed to study for a test and i had to compromise by forgoing the running for an evening so that my daughter wasn’t running amok. i decided to do one of my weight training videos. it was cool the first few sets, because she has her own little set of weights that she pretends to use like mommy. after a bit, the novelty of watching mommy sweat wore off. so, an hour-long workout took a bit longer. for the most part, though, she was good. i was concerned about getting my weight training in, but now that i can throw in a video and have her in the room with me ā and she doesn’t try to help me through some of my harder sets like she did this time ā i shouldn’t have a problem. it is cute ā she has gotten the sit-ups down pat and i think she has better form that i do.

sunday was the first time i have lifted any weights since i started my 1/2 marathon training. i decided that since i hope to run a full marathon in april, i had better get into better shape. needless to say, i am a bit sore.
