this workout was torture again. i started out great and felt like i could run forever and decided to add a bit of spice to a normally boring 40-minute run with a few speed bursts here and there. after the first 1.5 miles, i upped the speed every four minutes to 8 mph for a minute and then back down to 6. i was fine the first two times i did it, but the third time zapped my energy. i am just going to see how far i can run at 6 mph for now. (i know 6 mph isn’t very fast for most racers, but that is the pace i am most comfortable with right now.) i am determined to run this 1/2 marathon, so i am not going to let this slow me down.

i am not sure why, but this simple treadmill 5k killed me. i was wishing it was over almost as soon as i started. i tried to keep myself in the zone with speed and incline changes, but it took every ounce of will power not to hold on to the side or quit. last week, i was running 10k’s without batting an eye. i am hoping this was a matter of not hydrating well or eating well throughout the day, fatigue or just a fluke.
